We are always excited to meet new faces, learn your story, and talk dresses. We’ve gathered questions that we get asked the most to help you prep for your visit to Blush. If you don’t see the information you need, or have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
[su_spoiler title=”What is a curvy bridal boutique?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″] Blush is the San Francisco Bay Area’s first, and only, bridal boutique to specifically services bride sizes 8+. Our salon features sample gowns ranging in size from 8-24 with the ability to order up to a size 32. While most gowns are special order we carry a wide variety of “off the rack” samples available for purchase. For more information, or, if you fall outside the sizing listed, please give us a call![/su_spoiler]
[su_spoiler title=”How are you different from other Bridal Salons?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
We pride ourselves on having the area’s largest selection of contemporary styles and larger sizes. We carry sizes 8-24 in our stores. Since wedding gowns typically run small, that means we can fit brides size 8+.
[su_spoiler title=”What kind of dresses do you sell?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
We sell designer, custom-order wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses, as well as prom and special occasion gowns. We only carry a small selection of samples from each of our designers, but we can special order any dress from our designer’s available collections. In select cases, we can request that a dress be sent with the next trunk show or loaned to us for your appointment at a minimum $100 fee (to cover shipping).
[su_spoiler title=”How soon should I shop for my gown?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Before wedding dress shopping at Blush, brides should have a firm date, a venue under contract, and a dress budget (and you also want to know who is paying for the gown!). It’s a good idea to order your gown a year before your wedding. However, we do sell wedding dresses right off the rack, so we can accommodate everyone.
[su_spoiler title=”What size are your gowns?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
The gowns at Blush are in a wide variety of sizes up to size 24. Sample gowns (i.e. what you try on in-store) will rarely be a perfect fit, but thankfully our bridal stylists have their own arsenal of tricks and tools to help provide an idea of how the dress will look in your size. Most of our samples are between a size 8 and 24, usually fit most brides between size 6 and 22, and can usually be ordered up to a size 32.
[su_spoiler title=”Can I shop in your store even if I’m not an “athletic” or “curvy” bride?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Absolutely! We can order all of our bridesmaid and wedding gowns in smaller sizes, and we can also do custom larger sizes. We welcome all brides to Blush and look forward to helping you find your perfect dress!
[su_spoiler title=”Do I need an appointment?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Yes, Saturday appointments are strongly recommended in order for us to provide each bride a wonderful and focused experience. We really like to work with brides one on one. We can’t give you our best level of service if we don’t have a stylist (or a room!) available for you. During the week we also welcome walk-in appointments.
[su_spoiler title=”Do you charge for appointments?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
There is a $50 charge for a bridesmaid appointment. The fee can be credited to the purchase of a bridesmaid gown that is purchased at our store. There is also a charge of $35.00 per person for measurements. We do not charge for bridal appointments. However, we do offer our Blush brides the opportunity to schedule personalized service and expert help from one of our trained bridal stylists. Brides who desire a little extra pampering may choose to schedule a “Sip and Shop” appointment. When booking a “Sip and Shop” Appointment, brides will receive:
More time to shop! Our Sip and Shop Appointments are two hours in length, so you can linger over the finer details and get your accessories just right! The store is closed to other customers so you will have the entire salon to yourself for you and your guests.
- An individualized assessment for body type and personal style.
- A personal stylist for one-on-one assistance.
- Complimentary drinks and appetizers.
- Complimentary gift bag for the bride.
This ultimate shopping experience is perfect for up to five of your closest friends and family members. The $150 is due at time of booking and is non-refundable for any reason. However, if you decide to purchase your dress during this visit, $100 of your fee will be applied towards the dress purchase. Sip and Shop appointments can be scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. or during regular business hours on Monday by special appointment.
[su_spoiler title=”How long will I have with my Blush Stylist during my appointment?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
All appointments are scheduled for 90 minutes in length. This gives us time to introduce ourselves, get to know you and your style, and help you begin the dress selection process. Saturdays are the busiest day in the store so if you want to take things at a slower pace, we do suggest coming in during the week if at all possible. If you are interested in scheduling a longer appointment time, or would like more information about our “Sip and Shop” private appointments, please feel free to give us a call.
[su_spoiler title=”What should I bring to my appointment?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Your bridal appointment will be a fantastic and fun experience for you and your glam squad! We ask you bring an open mind, proper undergarments, including a strapless bra and shapewear if desired. We also suggest going light on the makeup tanner, and jewelry before trying on our pretty white dresses.
[su_spoiler title=”Who should I bring with me to my appointment?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
We recommend bringing 1-3 family members or friends whose opinions you value most. Wedding dress shopping is SO fun, but it can get overwhelming and stressful when a bride is considering the opinions of many people. To ensure the best experience possible for each and every bride, we kindly ask that large groups , over 5 guests and unsupervised children, do not accompany you to the shop.
[su_spoiler title=”Are children allowed in the store?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Short answer: yes. Long answer: While children are allowed, please remember that we have big mirrors, some expensive dresses and no children’s play area. We’ve also found that kids get bored here pretty quickly and so it’s usually a much more fun time for parents and kids to leave the little ones at home. However, we want everyone to enjoy the dress shopping experience, so if you choose to bring children, we recommend bringing someone whose sole responsibility is to watch the children so that the bride can focus on finding the perfect dress (and so her trusted advisors don’t miss a minute of the fun!).
[su_spoiler title=”How much can I expect to spend with you for my gown and accessories?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
At Blush, we offer an incredible and high-quality selection of gowns, priced from $1,000 to $4,500. When you come in for your appointment, your bridal stylist will help you choose gowns in a price range that you’re comfortable with. We never push you to spend more than you want, and we treat every bride with the same pampering service regardless of how much she wants to spend.
If you have a small budget, we always say it is worth a visit. We do sell our samples for a killer deal and while the selection is small, the dresses we do have at around $1,000 are still Blush-worthy: fashionable and fabulous. We regret we are unable to quote prices over the telephone.
[su_spoiler title=”What is ‘bridal size’?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
In the bridal world, we order gowns based on our designers’ size charts. Bridal gowns tend to run smaller than street size clothing. For example, a bridal size 10 would fit someone who is around a street size 6/8. The sample gowns in our store are usually bridal size 8-24.
[su_spoiler title=”How far in advance of my wedding should I shop for my wedding gown?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
It typically takes four to six months to order your wedding dress. We recommend leaving two months for alterations. If you don’t have eight months before your wedding date, don’t panic: we have options such as rush orders, in-stock availability, and selling gowns off the rack. We can work our magic on those working on much tighter schedules. This may involve some extra fees and a more immediate decision, but we will do whatever we can do to make it happen. Our sample stock is always a good option for brides with really, really tight schedules (like one month or less) and we do have a few designers who stock dresses. We will help you find the best options for your wedding date, provide you with an estimated ship date, and keep you updated along the way.
[su_spoiler title=”Will I need alterations?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
The vast majority of wedding gowns need at least some alterations to ensure the ideal fit. The alterations that are needed will vary from bride to bride and from gown to gown, and alterations costs are not included in the price of your wedding gown. We do offer those services by quality, independent seamstresses. Alterations are not included in the price of the gown; we recommend budgeting at least $300, though that will differ depending on the amount of work done.
[su_spoiler title=”Do you sell bridesmaids dresses?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Blush is focused on creating a positive and fun experience for the bride by catering to her gown and accessories, and does have a fantastic selection of bridesmaid dresses by the best designers! Did we mention Blush bridesmaids receive 10% off their order when the bride purchases their gown from us? Also, don’t forget to ask how you can privately reserve the salon for you and your bridesmaids so you can all shop in style!
[su_spoiler title=”What is your cancellation policy?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
We do have a strict cancellation policy for all appointments. All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. This allows us to help another bride in your allotted time slot. But please don’t do that! We’d much rather have you come and try on pretty dresses with us!
[su_spoiler title=”What’s a ‘Trunk Show’?” icon=”arrow-circle-2″]
Trunk shows are events that we frequently host on weekends where we highlight a particular designer’s collection. Trunk shows are a great opportunity to see and try on much more of a designer’s collection than what we normally have in the shop. Special gifts and discounts are often offered during trunk shows. Plus, the designers and their expert stylists often attend trunk shows, which makes for an unforgettable experience as you find your wedding dress! Brides are not limited to trunk show styles and may shop our entire collection during their appointment.
